Health officials in the United States found a new virus which is considered quite deadly, the virus Bourbon. No known victims died allegedly as a result of infection of the disease.
Although still under investigation, Bourbon virus derived from these fleas become one of the 'suspect' when a man in Kansas stretchable lives. The reason, according to the findings of health officials superpower suggests, these victims experience symptoms similar to the disease from tick bites, such as the muscles feel tired and have a fever.
Unidentified men, in the summer of this year, had visited a doctor for a medical check. He was treated but eventually died of multi-organ failure.
"Bourbon virus has emerged since some time ago but we do not have a diagnostic technique that can isolate the virus that has not been identified," said Dana Hawkinson, an infectious disease specialist at the University of Kansas Hospital, quoted by Tech Times.
Currently the officials of Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) together with researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are investigating the death of the man.
In the deepening of the cases, health officials were examining people who are close to the victim. It is feared, they will be infected and experiencing similar symptoms. CDC researchers were trying to understand the dissemination of the virus.
According to the CDC, the disease has infected ticks victim until it reaches 22,500 to 30,000 Americans each year.
While the Independent quoted, the spread of the virus similar to Bourbon have been found in Eastern Europe, Africa, and Asia. However, the disease was not found in the western hemisphere.
Bourbon so that the virus is not widespread, KDHE and CDC suggest some tips to the public from being exposed to the virus and avoid undesirable impacts.
"Wear clothes with long sleeves and pants. Then wash or shower as soon as possible after learning find ticks crawling on your body," wrote KDHE on its website.
